CLIENT:
Leading hoteliers in North West England and New
York.
DESCRIPTION:
Early 20th century trading hall in Portland Stone and
red granite of cavernous proportions. A grade II* building
of historic and architectural interest and an internationally
known landmark.
This really was a wonderful, interesting
and satisfying project to undertake.
PROJECT DETAILS:
GNAA were commissioned to transport a structure (originally
dismantled in 1998) to GNAA’s Cheshire Head Quarters,
in batches of 45 pantechnicon-loads, and to restore
and reassemble a magnificent fountain measuring 25 feet
high and 35 feet long.
The fountain now forms an impressive centrepiece
of courtyard development at a historic Chester hotel.
Bronze chandeliers and light fittings
now feature in the Big Apple hotel and other parts of
the buildings fabric have been acquired for developments
throughout the country.
SUMMARY:
It gives GNAA great pleasure and satisfaction that at
least part of an important piece of the nation’s
architectural heritage will be preserved for future
generations to come.
